Webster's Dictionary defines jazz as:

American music developed especially from ragtime and blues and characterized by propulsive syncopated rhythms, polyphonic ensemble playing, varying degrees of improvisation, and often deliberate distortions of pitch and timbre

The jazz of Jon Pardue evolved in much the same way. Soon after Jon began piano lessons at a very young age, it became apparent that he much preferred learning blues and ragtime over more traditional classical music. Several years later, he built on this vocabulary by expanding into traditional jazz quartets and quintets, rock bands, and experimental fusion groups, picking up many other instruments along the way. Now he is a versatile performer of jazz-infused styles, composer/arranger for music groups and independent film scores, and an energetic teacher.
